The internet has a whole range of accounting jobs for you, but there is a catch – you need to know where to look for them and you need to know how to market yourself properly. After all, it is a fiercely competitive industry out there and you need to have an edge over the competition, or at least convince prospective employers that you do!

So what exactly is it that you have to do to get accounting jobs online?

First, refine your horizons. Confused? Well, I’m talking about limiting yourself to the particular area where you are looking for a job. You might get extremely lucrative jobs – but say, in far off places such as the UAE – but you might not be able to take them. So define the area first and then advertise your services to prospective employers in that area.

Next, post your resume in as many job portals as you can. Don’t limit yourself to only financial and accounting job portals. Try out everything, you never know where you will strike gold and it might just be from an unexpected source. In fact, many times, there are accounting vacancies which you may take up.

Where to Look

Another unlikely place to look in is the websites of local schools and colleges. These sites often contain information about accounting jobs which the institution posts for their students and graduates to apply. Try it – there isn’t any harm in doing so, is there? You may send a separate application to the companies concerned, too. You might just make it!

Jobs in accounting require not just smart searching, but also smart presenting. You need to present yourself as best as you can. This translates to you writing a clever resume. Make yourself look as good as possible, while at the same time, not coming across as pompous. A tad bit hard, that, but it is something that you really need to do.

If you’ve made bad career moves, don’t neglect to mention them, but don’t highlight them either, make sure only your good career decisions come to the fore. Bypassing your bad moves altogether is also not a good idea, just in case you were thinking of doing that! Accounting jobs net employment is a really great idea for your accounting career and don’t let anyone else convince you otherwise! Go and find some accountings jobs net -works today!

Graduating with an accounting degree formerly meant only having the skills to perform a job doing one specific type of accounting. However, nowadays graduates have a much broader set of career choices than ever before. Although you will still most likely be working in some sort of business because of your specialized skills, you have a choice of working in organizations such as the tax department, financial analysis, and even management accounting.

You may have a specific interest within the accounting field. It is most advantageous when applying for an accounting job that you apply for a position which matches your specific studies as well as what you enjoy. There are some accounting jobs that are more lucrative than others, so you also want to keep that among your considerations.

After graduation you may find you need to start off in an entry level position. There are many to choose from, such as staff auditor, consulting and management accounting, plus accounting needs that deal directly with taxes. You will have a person along side you most of the time who is considered to be a senior accountant, and you will report to that individual. After at least three years, you should have gained sufficient experience to move up to a position in which you are the senior accountant. You would then still report to a manager, but you will have advanced an important level. After about six years you then may have the experience to move up to management, or even partner level, although that does take a considerable amount of time.

Corporate and financial accounting is a growing field that many graduates choose to enter after school. They also have a great deal of advancement opportunities, so by getting in with a larger company you are more able to take your career to the next level. You do need to have experience in financial management or cash management, which is usually attainable just from working there a few years as an entry level accountant. Going that route is more of a traditional path, but it will pay off over the years as you learn and grow with the company.
