The internet has a whole range of accounting jobs for you, but there is a catch – you need to know where to look for them and you need to know how to market yourself properly. After all, it is a fiercely competitive industry out there and you need to have an edge over the competition, or at least convince prospective employers that you do!

So what exactly is it that you have to do to get accounting jobs online?

First, refine your horizons. Confused? Well, I’m talking about limiting yourself to the particular area where you are looking for a job. You might get extremely lucrative jobs – but say, in far off places such as the UAE – but you might not be able to take them. So define the area first and then advertise your services to prospective employers in that area.

Next, post your resume in as many job portals as you can. Don’t limit yourself to only financial and accounting job portals. Try out everything, you never know where you will strike gold and it might just be from an unexpected source. In fact, many times, there are accounting vacancies which you may take up.

Where to Look

Another unlikely place to look in is the websites of local schools and colleges. These sites often contain information about accounting jobs which the institution posts for their students and graduates to apply. Try it – there isn’t any harm in doing so, is there? You may send a separate application to the companies concerned, too. You might just make it!

Jobs in accounting require not just smart searching, but also smart presenting. You need to present yourself as best as you can. This translates to you writing a clever resume. Make yourself look as good as possible, while at the same time, not coming across as pompous. A tad bit hard, that, but it is something that you really need to do.

If you’ve made bad career moves, don’t neglect to mention them, but don’t highlight them either, make sure only your good career decisions come to the fore. Bypassing your bad moves altogether is also not a good idea, just in case you were thinking of doing that! Accounting jobs net employment is a really great idea for your accounting career and don’t let anyone else convince you otherwise! Go and find some accountings jobs net -works today!

In a very small business, the payroll may not be that complicated. But it still takes time each and every week for someone to sit down and make calculations. Even if software is used, someone has to aggregate the data, run reports and initiate check printing, deposits and other issues. In a very small business, the owner is often the person who does this. Some business owners hire someone to handle the tasks for them, or they even hire a small department of people to handle things for their payroll processing services.

Businesses that hire someone to do the job, whether in-house or through outsourcing, have a better chance of growth than businesses in which the owner insists on doing it himself or herself. That’s because any job that can be outsourced to a service is something that an owner or employee is essentially wasting precious time doing.

Small business payroll services just handle payroll. It’s what they do, so they do it with a high degree of accuracy and they can do it quickly. A small business owner who hires payroll processing services is freeing himself up from that weekly task. He’s freeing up employees from that task, as well. That business is more likely to grow and flourish because the chief players within the company are free to do what they do best, and that’s bringing in new business and new income.

Payroll processing services do cost, and the cost is generally an ongoing monthly fee unless they allow a business to pay by the year. But the fee is surprisingly small for some services. And even if the cost is higher and the expenses more, it’s necessary to consider time that’s saved and how much that is worth. An owner is the person who cares the most about a small business. By delegating payroll to small business payroll services, the owner can focus on building that business instead of handling tedious duties.

Employees that had to handle payroll tasks can contribute other things to the company with the freed up time. So not only is the company no longer paying someone in-house to do payroll, they’re getting the same amount of time from the employee with more productive time spent on things like bringing in income. When you consider the cost of the owners’ and employees’ time, it’s clear to see what a bargain the cost of payroll processing services really is.

It is certainly true that regardless of the size of a business, the increasing complexity of payroll systems – managing wages, taxation, annual leave, PAYG, different state jurisdictions and superannuation – means that specialist knowledge is required for these functions to be carried out properly.

Medium to large businesses have for many years understood the benefits of using specialist payroll companies to manage their payroll requirements. What is becoming evident, however, is the growing need for small business payroll services as well.

Those businesses, whether large companies or SMEs, that have taken the step to outsource payroll services, have based their decision on these realisations, and have not looked back:

1. Payroll Australia differs from many other countries in that regulations and requirements can change between states. If you have a national workforce, in-house payroll management can be extremely time-consuming.

2. While there are some impressive payroll software solutions available, by outsourcing payroll functions, the need to rely on a dedicated staff member to perform payroll services is eliminated. There is no interruption to the payroll function when staff members are on leave.

3. They see outsourcing payroll functions as part of their risk management plan, because the provider ensures that the client meets all requirements for governance and compliance.

4. Professional payroll companies are able to clearly define the separation of duties, providing transparency and an audit trail if needed.

5. There is no need for them to update systems and software and retrain staff if and when laws and regulations change.

6. Payroll companies are able to quickly adjust to meet the evolving demands of a business. Whether these changes are integration, downsizing, physical and geographical expansion a quality payroll services will have the flexibility to match these needs.

7. Quality payroll services provide their clients’ with online access to leave application and expenses processing, further eliminating the need for ancillary staff to manage these functions.

Successful businesses recognise that ability to do away with internal payroll systems has a measurable cost/benefit ratio. However, the peace of mind that results from knowing that this important function is being managed professionally is immeasurable!

There is a lot to do when you have a family. Through the day-to-day endeavors of caring for your home, your spouse, and your children, tax issues can easily be relegated to the bottom of the list

Save all of your receipts through the course of the year. Even if you are pretty sure that you won’t get a tax benefit from a purchase, save the receipt. Too much is better than too few when it comes to tax receipts. Keep them in a special folder in a filing cabinet or desk drawer so your receipts are easy to find when it is time to prepare your taxes. You can sort out which ones are applicable when you actually do your filing.

Stay up on changes in the tax code. Some things that happen in June or July can affect your taxes in April. This goes for all times of the year. Know about tax changes when they happen. Don’t wait until April 14 to catch up.

The college tax credit has been extended. If you have children attending college, they are now eligible for a maximum credit of $2500, which can now be claimed for four years.

You can contribute up to $2000 per year to an Educational Savings Account. While the contribution is after-tax, the funds that are withdrawn are untaxed as long as they are used for college education expenses.

If your family’s medical bills surpass 7.5% of your Adjusted Gross Income, they are tax deductible. This is particularly helpful if you have a sick family member or a recent newborn.

If you run your own business, you might want to think about hiring one of your minor children. A minor can earn up to $5000 per year without being subject to income tax.

According to the IRS, 25% of families that qualify for the earned income tax credit do not apply for it. To find out if your family qualifies for the EITC, go to the IRS website and find out.

The best way to avoid income tax problems is to be prepared. Review your financial status and accounts periodically throughout the year. Sit down with your spouse and compare opinions when making decisions about deposits into IRAs, educational savings accounts, and so on. By making smart decisions about your investments, savings, and income during the year, you can avoid confusion and trouble at tax time.
